My name is David Bancroft, and I am running for the Kennebunkport Select Board.
Originally from the south coast of Massachusetts, I was born into a family with a commercial fishing and home energy background. For the last 12 years, Kennebunkport has been our home. Before I continue, let me share why I love this town:
I graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with a degree in Finance and later earned my Master’s in Public Administration from Suffolk University.
I am the Senior Vice President for Community Development and Investment for MassDevelopment. I bring more than 25 years of experience interacting with and for municipalities, local for-profit and non-profit organizations, and small business operators. This unique work experience includes many issues we face in Kennebunkport: How to best operate and maintain our fire and public works, fish pier operations, environmental clean-ups, cultural and tourist organizations, small businesses and entrepreneurs, including the issue of downtown and streetscape improvements. I have worked with the issue of housing and affordability, having managed two affordable housing development funds.
Formerly, I served on the Board and as Board Chair for the AID's Housing Program and Victory Programs, two nonprofits with a mission to address the issues of homelessness, addiction and recovery for individuals, single moms with children, families, and veterans living with HIV/AIDS and other disabilities. We started the ReVision Urban Farm to provide access to nutritious, healthy local foods while teaching job training and business skills as well as building self-esteem for the residents.
I have the understanding and experience to deal with and find solutions to the issues we face as a community. I will approach every issue with a common sense, pragmatic, and energetic approach we need to address the important issues we face. I will listen and be accessible to each member of this community. That is how I was raised, who I am, and how I operate, and it is what I offer and promise to you.
I am asking for your vote on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
